HMWHSC Press Release : Grease and Go 12/11 & 12/13 Results

12/11 Attendees (number of sleds)
  • Falcon (1)

G-Man Pantera 600
  • Needs Sliders.... removed old sliders
  • Purchased wrong sliders.... next step return wrong sliders
  • Well at time we thought was the wrong sliders... later that evening after mother f-ing filers, it was discovered we were attempting to install Ski-Doo sliders on a Cat...
Big John - 580
  • Still unable to start.  Removed recoil to flywheel on 12/3
  • Purchased flywheel puller from Harbor Freight on 12/9
  • Removed Flywheel and found no flywheel key... could this be the issue???
  • Next step purchase a flywheel key... also found a coolant hose with a significant cut from rubbing on the recoil line.  Part on order.

Falcon - Ski Doo Formula 700
  • Crank Case Oil Dry.  Bad Seal??? 
  • Removed pan under chain case, chain case cover has hair line crack
  • Next Step: Replace or repair chain case cover
12/13 Attendees (number of sleds)

  • Install Sliders, should be 20 minute job according to the shop manual
  • 2 hours later, sliders installed... sliders kept splitting during the install.  Loosened track, removed idler wheels and WD40'ed the sliders but still having issues.
  • The rails were super sharp, so we filed them down and the sliders slipped on.
  • Pantera 600 was safely returned home in the back of big blue
Big John - 580
  • Director of Parts and Inventory procured a flywheel key at Erie Power.
  • Installed key, recoil and can.
  • Same issue, unable to get motor to go over 4500 rpm's
  • Next step take into shop... 

Falcon - Ski Doo Formula 700
  • Crank Case Oil Dry.  Replace / Repair 
  • Drained Chain case oil
  • Removed Chain Case
  • Next Step: Replace or repair chain case cover (note on 12/16 the chain case cover was welded by AAA Welding for $40).  Awaiting gasket to re-install.
